FAQ

  • How are we distributing the Yizkor book and New Year’s Greetings?

New Year’s Greetings have been included in this mailing so that you may read them as you prepare for the High Holy Days. Yizkor Books will be available during all of our Yizkor services throughout the year, including Yom Kippur – Thursday, October 2; Hoshanah Rabbah – Monday, October 13 (evening); Shemini Atzeret – Tuesday, October 14; Pesah – Thursday, April 9; Shavuot – Friday, May 22 (evening), and Shavuot – Saturday, May 23.

All services have a virtual option on our website, tbsonline.org.

  • How are High Holy Day honors assigned?

All of the High Holy Day honors and aliyot are given out to both new and long-standing TBS members, officers of the congregation, as well as congregants who have given their time and effort to enriching synagogue life at TBS over the past year. We greatly appreciate the contributions of our congregants and look forward to recognizing our TBS family members each year. For more questions on this process, please contact TBS’s Ritual Chairperson, Michael Greenspun, at mgreenspun@hotmail.com.

  • How are seats assigned?

High Holy Day forms received by the June 30 deadline are separated by the room requested (Sanctuary, Balcony, Preferred, Friedman Social Hall, Helman Auditorium), and seats are assigned accordingly. Plus Givers are given priority over other membership categories in their seat assignments. Every effort is made to accommodate requests for group seating and aisle seats, though these preferences may impact your proximity to the front sections of the rooms. Groups that turned in all of their forms together before the June 30 deadline have been seated together. All forms were processed in the order in which they were received.

  • Where should I park my car?

Every household will receive one car tag for identification for admittance to the TBS parking lot for drop-off or parking. This tag needs to be clearly displayed through the car’s front windshield. In order to facilitate traffic control, there will be one designated entry point at the Kresson Road Driveway and another designated exit point at the Cropwell Road Driveway. Signs will be posted at each driveway when the lot becomes full; however, passenger drop-off will still be possible. Plus Givers who receive reserved parking spots will be directed to the designated area. If you live close to TBS, we suggest that you walk to shul. If you have friends or relatives who live within walking distance of the synagogue, please park at their house and walk with them.

If you drive, parking will be extended beyond the synagogue lot to include the following areas: Cropwell Road on both sides, however, parking is not permitted on either side of Cropwell between our driveway and Kresson Road. This has been designated by the police department as a tow-away zone. A good rule of thumb: If you are not sure about a particular spot, do not park there. The Chabad parking lot is not available to TBS.

  • Where should I park if all of the spaces in the TBS parking lot are filled?

The parking lot at Cherry Hill High School East is an alternative parking location. Shuttle buses will be available to take you between TBS and Cherry Hill High School East.

The shuttle bus to transport people between the synagogue and Cherry Hill High School East will run in a continuous loop following the schedule below:

    Tuesday, September 23 (Rosh Hashanah Day 1), 9 AM - 2 PM

    Wednesday, September 24 (Rosh Hashanah Day 2), 9 AM - 2 PM

Wednesday, October 1 (Kol Nidre), 6 PM - 10 PM

Thursday, October 2 (Yom Kippur), 9 AM - 2 PM

Pickup and drop-off at East will be on the Country Walk side.

  • How does TBS manage Reserved Parking for People with Disabilities?

If you are in need of Reserved Parking for People with Disabilities, the only valid disabled parking tags are those issued by states/municipalities. Security personnel in the TBS parking lot will assist you in finding an appropriate place to park your car if the designated parking spaces for people with disabilities are filled.

  • What security procedures are in place at TBS throughout the High Holy Days?

Safety remains a top priority at TBS, and with careful consideration, a high standard of security procedures for the High Holy Days have been put into place. In addition to the security procedures that are in place throughout the year at TBS, Cherry Hill Police and JFED Security will be on site both in the building and in the parking lot during Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur services. Extra security personnel will ensure that we have a safe environment for family services that will be conducted in the tent.

Please have your High Holy Day tickets ready to display as you enter the building. The main synagogue entrance will be the only point of entry into the building. You must have a ticket in order to enter the building.

  • Are Mahzorim, High Holy Day prayerbooks, available for those participating in services via the livestream?

Mahzorim, are available for purchase in the TBS office. More information will be provided via email on accessing the Mahzorim online.
